Thousands visit Hawaii every day, and when the sun starts to fall and shades of pink, orange, and yellow appear, you can find them dining on its beautiful beaches, waiting for the sun to set.
Each part of the Island offers oceanfront restaurants where you can watch the sun fall below the waves.
Seaside dining is everywhere, but here are my favorite places in Honolulu where the view is breathtaking, and the food is delectable.
1. Hua Tree Lanai
In the back of the 58-year-old Kaimana Beach Hotel, you will find a picnic-style restaurant steps away from the sand. Famous Hau Trees frame the ocean while boats with striped sails pass by in the distance.
The restaurant offers Pacific Rim fare perfect for seafood lovers, steak lovers, and vegetarians alike.
The recently renovated hotel and restaurant display all new furniture and decor, giving the space a contemporary feel.
This is a perfect spot for romantic couples or fun with friends and works as a place for a family dinner.
2. Sunset at Turtle Bay
Far away from all the commotion of city life on O’ahu is Turtle Bay Resort. Located on the far right edge of the Island sits a poolside bar with ocean views and entertainment. Hear the famous song Somewhere Over the Rainbow play on a Ukulele while you sip mai tais and watch the surfers ride in at last light.
There is plenty for the whole family to enjoy, and the seafood bites are delicious!
3. Hula Grill Waikiki
Right in the center of Waikiki Beach is a Hawaiian restaurant serving beachside eats. The restaurant is on the second story, giving a fun lookout view of the ocean. Live music plays every night as guests dine on classic seafood dishes and sip fun cocktails from a pineapple.
This restaurant is a lot of fun for the whole family, is within walking distance from downtown, and is reasonably priced!
4. 53 By The Sea
On the harbor sits a chic, glass-walled restaurant with a view overlooking boats sailing by, the city’s landscape, and Diamond Head in the far distance. Explore a variety of fresh, handcrafted cocktails and fine spirits while awaiting world-renowned chef Joshua Goetz’s cuisines. He incorporates fresh, local ingredients to create delectable dishes infused with nods to both Hawaii and Japan. 53 By The Sea is a perfect place for celebrations and fine dining.
5. Michel’s at the Colony Surf
On the shores of Kaimana Beach, Michel’s at the Colony Surf sits in a perfect location for sunset views. Guests are seated with the ocean view prominently on display, and the sound of waves crashing sets a good ambiance for the evening. Michel’s at the Colony Surf serves French fare with Island flair. The restaurant is the perfect setting for a romantic evening.
